No typical residential solar energy grants are given directly at the federal level. Federal block grants fund a variety of solar energy programs that grant funds or provide rebates to homeowners for. With the end of the solar feed in tariff fit in march 2019 an eco3 grant is the now the way to secure a free government funded grant. In an effort to incentivize the growth of solar power various departments within the federal government offer grants to make the transition more affordable.

You have to purchase and install the system first and then you can apply for the credit. Solar energy grants make renewable energy affordable for more homeowners. What they offer instead is a scheme called the feed in tariff which pays you money for 20 years after your solar panels have been installed. There are no grants for solar panels available in the uk.

The government used to provide interest free loans and grants as part of the green deal but this concluded in 2015. In july the government announced the new green homes grant which provides homeowners and landlords in england with 5 000 10 000 vouchers for energy saving renovations. The feed in tariff fit was an incentive scheme for solar pv panels but it closed in march 2019 and has been replaced by the smart export guarantee. The feed in tariff is in effect the government solar panel scheme.

There are no grants for solar panels in the traditional sense of the word from the government that will pay in full or in part for your solar panel installation. The feed in tariff also came to an end in april 2019 but the new smart export guarantee seg is on the way starting in january 2020. Federal government incentives are given in the form of tax credits. Solar panel grants are available as part the uk government s eco3 scheme and are intended to help reduce carbon emissions and at the same time eradicate fuel poverty.

Unfortunately the government grants for solar panels ended in 2015 after lack of interest from homeowners resulted in the scheme not being able to achieve what it set out to do.
